COVID-19

SHELTON VETERINARY CENTER HAS A NEW POLICY WHEN HANDLING COVID-19

***  UPDATED FEBRUARY 21, 2022 ***

MODIFIED CURBSIDE PROTOCOL

To help slow the spread of COVID-19, we are transitioning to a modified curbside service until further notice. Covid vaccination and face masks (that cover nose and mouth) are required whenever inside our building. If you do not have a face mask, one will be provided to you. We are implementing these protocols to keep everyone safe.

We ask that anyone with a fever, cough, shortness of breath, that’s traveled within the last 2 weeks, or that may have been exposed to someone with these symptoms or another infectious respiratory disease (ex. Influenza) to stay home. If your pet needs care for an illness or injury and you fall into one of these categories, please call our office so that we can devise a plan to safely see your pet without risking anyone’s health.

Modified Curbside Service Procedure Options:

  • 1)  If you choose to do a full curbside appointment and would like us to only bring your pet into SVC while you remain outside the facility, please let our Client Service Representatives know when booking your appointment.

  •
    • a)  Call 203-929-7297 when you arrive for your scheduled appointment to check in by phone with one of our client service team. (If you don’t have a cell phone, please notify our team when you schedule your appointment so alternative arrangements can be made.)
    • b)  A veterinary technician assigned to your appointment will call you to get a detailed history about your pet and ask about any question you have for the Veterinarian, or any medication refills you may need.
    • c)  Once the veterinary technician has everything ready, they will meet you at our front door to help escort your pet to an exam room while you wait in your car.
    • d)  Your pet will be examined in the comfort of our hospital and treated as if they were our own pet. We know it can be stressful to be separated from your pet, yet rest assured we are giving them a lot of love and care while they are with us.
    • e)  As soon as the exam and any treatments are completed, the Veterinarian will call you to give you the results of today’s appointment and discuss any follow up needed or medications to go home.
    • f)  Finally, you will be transferred to one of our client service team members to take payment over the phone. Once finished the technician assigned to your pet will meet you at the front door and return them to you.
  • 2) If you would like to enter SVC with your pet for their scheduled appointment you will be required to properly wear a face mask (always covering your nose and mouth) while in the building. Anyone who is unable or unwilling to wear a face mask will not be allowed in the building at this time to protect the health and safety of our staff. Only 1 owner may enter the hospital during an office visit.

  •
    • a)  Call 203-929-7297 when you arrive for your scheduled appointment to check in by phone with one of our client service team. (If you don’t have a cell phone, please notify our team when you schedule your appointment so alternative arrangements can be made.)
    •
      •      i.    If the waiting room is safe, one of our team will meet you at our front door and escort you and your pet into an exam room.

      •      ii.    If we have several clients already in the building, you will be asked to wait in your car until a client finishes, at which time we will call you and have a team member meet you and escort you into an exam room.
    • b)  Do not remove your mask while in the exam room waiting for the staff to come in for your appointment.
    • c)  Do not leave the exam room without one of our team members escorting you.
    • d)  In rare circumstances, to ensure proper social distancing, you may be asked to step outside the exam room while our team is examining your pet. If this is the case, we will reunite you with your pet as soon as we are able to.
    • e)  If a pet is scheduled for a Euthanasia, please contact us beforehand if you need to make arrangements for more than 1 family member to attend the appointment. Face masks will be required for all family members that come into the building.

Medication & Pet Food Pick-Up

If you need to pick up medication or pet food, please call our office. Once the request has been authorized and filled, someone from our team will contact you to take payment over the phone. We will have your items and receipt prepared and ready to go for pick up to limit exposure time.

We appreciate your understanding, patience, and cooperation during these challenging times.
