About SVC

Shelton Veterinary Center is a state of the art hospital built in July of 2005.

We are very proud of our new facility and provide exemplary care and services that animals need. We feel that pets are family, and when you bring us your pet it becomes part of ours.

Dr. Stefanie Kreiger
(Doctor of Veterinary Medicine - DVM)

Dr. Stefanie Kreiger has wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as she can remember. She attended the University of Vermont and received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. She then attended Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and received her DVM in 1994.

After graduation Dr. Kreiger was accepted to an internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City, a world renowned referral hospital. After completing her internship she moved back to Connecticut and went into private practice.

Dr. Kreiger is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association and the Fairfield County Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr Kreiger has since pursued her dream to not only be a veterinarian but to own her own practice. She has 2 yellow Labrador retrievers Slim and Kibo and 2 cats Cassanova and Bear.

Tana Barnes
(Receptionist)

Tana is a native New Yorker. She attended the University of Hartford and received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.

Since she loves working with animals she worked at the Connecticut Humane Society for 2 years. She then worked as a receptionist extraordinaire for various veterinary offices in Connecticut.

Tana has been a member of the Shelton Veterinary Center staff since we opened in July of 2005. We are very proud to have her as a member of our team! Tana has 2 cats Havoc and Mischief.

Elizabeth Griffin
(Receptionist)

Elizabeth is a Connecticut native. She graduated from Sacred Heart University with an associates degree in accounting. Elizabeth divides her time working at Shelton Veterinary Center as our receptionist and working at Bridgeport Hospital as an Administrative Assistant.

She is very active in the community and enjoys her involvement with her childrens’ activities. She has had a lifelong passion for animals and resides here in Shelton with her family which includes her black Labrador Retriever, Lilly.

Dr. Shawn Rafferty
(Doctor of Veterinary Medicine - DVM)

Dr. Shawn Rafferty graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science in biology. After continuing her education at SCSU, she earned a Master of Science degree.

Later, Dr. Rafferty attended Tuft’s University where she received her D.V.M. degree in 1994. She then went into private practice and founded a mobile veterinary service - Veterinary House Call Services, LLC in Shelton.

Dr. Rafferty has been an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Connecticut Veterinary Medical Association, and the Fairfield County Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Rafferty is co-owner of Shelton Veterinary Center. She loves her Toy Poodle, Maddie and cat, Spots.

Nicole Curry
(Veterinary Technician)

Nicole is a Connecticut native who has been working in the veterinary field for several years.

She began as a kennel worker and quickly worked her way up to become a veterinary technician. She came to us with excellent references and we are delighted that she has joined our veterinary team.

She has 2 dogs Adam and Jade, and 3 cats Little Girl, Fatboy and CB.

Anita Benedetto
(Veterinary Assistant)

Anita is a lifelong Connecticut resident, and began working with Dr. Rafferty in 1995 as a veterinary assistant.

She currently “wears many hats” here at Shelton Veterinary Center: She is a Veterinary Assistant but often helps out with administrative duties at the front desk.

She also keeps busy with her private pet lodging business. She has 2 wonderful dogs, Lil Dipper and Vega, and has a kitty named Grace. We are so pleased to have her as a member of our veterinary team.
